Getting around

Where to rent bikes in Eixample

Written by Miguel

Of all the ways available for you to move around swiftly in Barcelona, biking is definitely the most healthy and eco-friendly. Perfect for small and medium routes, it doesn’t generate any pollution, roadway noise or traffic congestion – plus, it’s super fun!

Although there is a public bicycle sharing system in Barcelona – called Bicing – unfortunately, this is not available to tourists or foreigners who are not considered permanent residents. Don’t worry, though, because if you are in one of those situations and didn’t take your bike with you to Barcelona, you’re not going to have to buy one either – there are plenty of bike rental services in every major neighbourhood. If, for example, you are currently living in Eixample, here’s where you can go to rent a bike:

Rentabike Barcelona

Address: Carrer del Perill, 29
Contact: +34 672 36 71 45

Rentabike is open from 9:30 AM until 8 PM and will cost you 11€ a day (plus 3€ if you want to return the bike on the next day). Their service is known to be very friendly, which is always a plus.

The Bike Club Barcelona

Address: Carrer Sepulveda, 6
Contact: +34 931 791 371

Open every day of the week from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM, The Bike Club isn’t only a bike rental place, it’s also a cycling cafe with, some say, the best cake and coffee in Barcelona. Every review of the place mentions the owner, Mark, as being a super friendly, super helpful person – for that alone, this place is certainly worth a visit. Even if you don’t really need to rent a bike, just go have a beer with Mark and all the other cycling enthusiasts who always stop by the place. Oh, and a 1-day rental is priced at 12€.

Galvesport

Established in Eixample since 1979, Galvesport is a family company with a great passion for bikes and plenty of experience in the business. They are open every Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM and from 5 PM to 8:30 PM. On Saturdays, the doors are only open during the morning period, from 10 AM to 1 PM. Their prices aren’t referenced anywhere online, but should fall in the 10-12€ price range of their competitors.

That’s it, now that you know where to rent bikes in Eixample, you have no excuses not to put those leg muscles to work. Not only will it make you stronger and improve your cardio, you’ll also get the added satisfaction of knowing you’re helping the environment. Have fun pedaling around Barcelona!
