Pubs, Cafes and Restaurants in El Born

When it comes to visiting Barcelona you are going to find yourself spoilt for choice when it comes to food and drink, even if you are staying for just a short time.

But one area of the city that the team from ShBarcelona would recommend you visit is the El Born neighbourhood. It has in fact become known of being one of the best “barrios” for food and drink.

As a result of this, there is a great selection of bars, cafes and restaurants to choose from. But with so many on offer where you do you begin? Below is a just a selection of the ones that we love and ones that you might want to visit during your time in this amazing city.

La Paradeta

If you love your seafood then you’ll love La Paradeta. It offers some of the freshest seafood in the whole of Barcelona. But because it is popular, be prepared to have to wait for your table, which could be up to an hour. But we promise you that the wait will be worth it.

This isn’t like any other fish restaurant as you go up to the counter to select your fish. Then you tell them how you wish for it to be cooked. You then get given a number and when it is called you collect your food.

Alsur Cafe

Alsur Cafe is a very popular cafe because of its large spacious outdoor terrace. It is the perfect place on a warm summers day or cool evening to enjoy a bit of brunch or dinner.

But if you are just after a quick snack then we suggest you try their croissants and a nice latte. But if you are in a rush why not just take a latte to go from their deli instead.

Bormuth

If you are looking for a place that serves tapas, then Bormuth is where you should be heading to. It is a place that is always busy, and there is a good selection of foods for you to try.

One particular item on the menu that I recommend you try is their goats cheese on top of red peppers.

The Lime House

The Lime House is a great place to go for a drink or two. One thing you really should try here are their mojitos, especially the strawberry one.

But if you prefer, you might want to think about trying some of their homemade gin instead. But it isn’t all about the cocktails. They also have a small food menu for you to try, that includes nachos and burgers.

NAP Pizza

Like some other restaurants NAP Pizza, or Neapolitan Authentic Pizza, is popular. In fact there is a normally a queue forming just before the doors open. But not only is the service good, the prices charged are reasonable.

A basic pizza will only set you back about 5€. If you aren’t prepared to wait around for a table to become free, then why not order a pizza to go. Then just take it to a nearby park to enjoy.

What is your favourite place in El Born?
