Alternative Therapies: Reiki in Barcelona

Alternative Therapies: Reiki
Written by Paula

Reiki is an alternative form of healing that was born in Japan. It is not a religious method, but rather a spiritual one, in which a person’s energy is manipulated by a practitioner to help the patient.

barcelona reikiThe word Reiki is a combination of the words Rei, which means “universal life” and “Ki”, which means “energy”. Reiki practitioners believe that Reiki is the life energy that flows in all living beings and that every being possesses healing energy inside itself.

Reiki defends that the energy should flow freely inside one’s body and that when there are blockages or the energy starts running weak, symptoms of emotional or physical imbalance start appearing.

Through energy manipulation during a session, the therapist helps to restore the energy’s optimal flow.

During a Reiki session, the patient will lie down on a massage table, fully clothed. Reiki uses only very light contact or no contact at all, with the practitioner’s hands hovering over the areas that need attention. Some people feel tingling or a warming sensation in the areas being treated.
