Yoga in Sants-Montjuic

Written by Eric

Some may not know this but there are a number of different styles of Yoga. For those of you who are looking to begin the practice of this relaxing form or exercise, here is a list of the most famous styles.

Ashtanga: The sequential movement of Ashtanga Yoga is a free flow of rapid poses. With six established poses, repeat the sequence inhaling and exhaling. The link of breath is called vinyasa.

yogaBikram: Known for the 105-degree heat and 40 percent humidity, you feel like you’re doing your 26 poses inside of a sauna.

Hatha: Uses the classical approach in all types of modern Yoga through breathing and postures. It is one of the six original branches of Yoga.

Iyengar: Named after its founder, B.K.S. Iyengar, this type of Yoga uses props like blocks, straps, harnesses and incline boards. The key factor for this type of Yoga is the precise of alignment and sequencing.

Kundalini: The energy supply for Kundalini Yoga is intended to be like a coiled serpent located at the base of your spine. Once “awakened” this energy will pulse upwards through your body. Constant movement and invigorating poses.

Prenatal: This Yoga is carefully adapted for either pre-birth (keeping your muscles strong during term) or post-birth, getting them back in shape.

Tantra: Partners or singles, Tantric Yoga is the expansion of awareness and connection to another through the creation of deeper spiritual bonds.
