At the top of the Tibidabo Mount, known by its inhabitants, among other things, for its historic amusement park, is the Cocktail Bar Merbeyé. This cocktail bar opened over 30 years ago in Barcelona and became one of the most famous cocktail bars in the city because of the celebrities that went there every night: Javier Mariscal, Fernando Amat or Loquillo that mentioned Merbeyé in his song “Cadillac Solitario”. They came there to take some cocktails or a whiskey “on the rocks” while whispering quietly, sitting on the marble tables and on the burgundy velvet chairs.
That magical atmosphere with vintage tones are still kept in the Marbeyé for those who come back to feel at home, but they have also added daytime visits on the terrace outside with a chill out from which to enjoy the stunning views of the city during the summer. An almost cinematic scenery that has remained intact after its new owner, the designer Sonia Traba.
The cocktail list includes longtime classics such as dry Martini or Bloody Mary, but also incorporates creations that you must try as the Blue Tramvia (the public transport that goes to this place), the “Negrito Zumbón”, the Made in Japan or the Merbeyé, and other creations depending on season of the year. These drinks can be accompanied with some tapas, a salad or a pizza and a little jazz or soul music.
August is the perfect time of the year to stop by this place, and ShBarcelona would like to recommend you to check out their timetables and public transportation times if you don’t have your own car. In high season (between the 1st of May and the 1st of November) Merbeyé open daily from 10am in the morning until dawn. In low season, from the 1st of November to the 1st of May, is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10am in the morning until dawn. Merbeyé is open even during holidays like Christmas or Easter. If you want to book it for a private event or party, you can book a space in advance calling at 93 417 35 49 or sending an e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
