Il Giardinetto: Great Atmosphere, Great Food, Great Service!

There is no doubt that being able to find authentic local food in Barcelona can prove very challenging. All it seems that most restaurants offer to visitors to this beautiful city is paella, cheese, tapas, beer, cava or wine. Okay during your visit you want to be able experience some of this regions food and culture, but eating the same thing day after day can prove boring.

This restaurant is one that offers you some truly amazing dishes using the best quality Mediterranean food that is available throughout Barcelona. It is the one place in the city where you are going to be able to truly authentic Italian plates of food that you love.

Il Giardinetto has been established in the city for over 30 years now and since first opening its doors has gained a reputation for serving the best Italian plates around.

But it isn’t only those who have great palates who choose to cross this restaurants threshold it is also a favourite haunt for the romantics among us. Plus for those who are looking for something a little more nostalgic then a visit to this restaurant is a must.

However recently it has undergone a bit of a makeover to help bring it more in to the 21st Century. But having said that the staff in the kitchen are still able to create some really amazing dishes of Italian food to satisfy the needs of even the most discerning of clientele. The head chef at this time is Jesus who creates beautiful dishes using fresh pasta that has been made lovingly by hand each day. But it isn’t only Jesus who is producing beautiful Italian plates for the clients there are some truly amazing dishes being created by the restaurants young chef Chiqui (Sergio Millet).

However if you can ask for the Paglia e Fieno Tagliolini al Pomodoro (this isn’t actually on the menu). But they love to prepare and serve it because they believe it to be one of their best dishes.

For those of you who really don’t have the time available to spend over a leisurely lunch or dinner then head to the bar where you can try some of the dishes created by Chiqui. A particular favourite is the Iberian Egg Roll, which comprises a kind of round bread roll that has been filled either with sausage or ham and a poached free range egg.

If you are feeling a little peckish late in the evening then don’t worry because unlike other restaurants in Barcelona the kitchen here remains open until 1am.
