Best hamburger joints in Barceloneta

Written by Miguel

Formerly a small fishing village, the Barcelona neighbourhood of Barceloneta is now one of the city’s most visited locations. It’s not hard to understand why – right in the middle between the city’s famous old harbour (Port Vell) and its breathtaking beaches, it’s the perfect place to be when the weather is warm. Have you been there yet? We highly recommend a visit – take a walk on the beach, have a swim in the water and then relax with a drink or a meal in one of its many great seaside bars and restaurants. In fact, there is one type of establishment that is particularly awesome in Barcelonetaburger joints.

It’s not easy to reinvent a classic, but Bacoa did just that. They took the traditional hamburger recipe, mixed plenty of local flavour with a relentless dedication to satisfying the customer and served it to you with incredible hand-cut chips. There’s much to choose from on the menu, which includes a fitting option for you independently of your dietary regimen. We highly recommend the Asturiana burger, with Spanish blue cheese and caramelized onions, or the Grand Vegano, a crispy chickpea spinach patty topped with whipped avocado. Not only the food is amazing, the place itself has a very welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, so if you’re a fan of good burgers, you really must try it.

Makamaka Beach Burger Cafe

Opened in 2012, Makama has the ultimate beach bar vibe, from its breezy interior designs to its magnificent terrace with a beautiful view. Of all the awesome burgers on the menu, it’s hard not to recommend the superb Big Maka – 200g of delicious beef with grilled peppers, bacon, caramelized onion, gruyère cheese and BBQ sauce. To go with it, you’ll be happy whether you drink alcohol or not – they have fantastic cocktails and mojitos, but also really good smoothies and shakes. An essential part of a true beach experience in Barceloneta.

BRO Burgers y Bocatas Argentinos

Seriously, you need to have a burger at BRO, bro! All kidding aside, this cozy place with a great atmosphere and really fast service has some of the best burgers in town. We highly recommend the succulent and tasty Mexican Burger, which, like every other item on the vast menu, is made from only the freshest local ingredients. Another big plus of the place is how generous the portions are. You know how when you’re eating fries, every one of your friends at the table steals “just one”? This is the perfect place for that, as the servings are too much for one person anyway – and sharing is caring.

Address: Baluard 34.
