Where to eat in Barcelona if you are a vegetarian?

Written by Michael

In Barcelona, there are plenty of restaurants offering vegetarian food, some of it good, some of it less so. Unlike major cities like London and New York, Barcelona has been a little slow to catch on to vegetarianism and whilst there are many options about now, not all of them are very experimental or imaginative when it comes to providing classy and exceptionally tasty vegetarian options. This is something that is changing and there definitely are some good restaurants in the city where you can have your fill of good vegetarian or vegan dishes.

Here are just some of our favourites:

L’Hortet

L’Hortet in Raval is a good restaurant with a menu consisting of freshly prepared seasonal Mediterranean food. They have a salad buffet along with a daily menu. The service is very friendly which we like, and the ambience is very pleasing and comfortable without being at all stuffy.

Organic

The next restaurant on our list is also in Raval, hidden in carrer Junta de Comerç. Organic is a great place again with a good salad buffet bar and a very affordable daily menus (prices vary depending on the day of the week). All products are organic as the restaurant’s name suggests, and everything is fresh and seasonal.

Teresa Carles

Teresa Carles is a great restaurant. Proof of this are the queues that form every lunchtime. They serve great juices and smoothies, healthy breakfasts, a fantastic menu del did, and luscious desserts.

Amaltea

In Amaltea they offer an excellent vegetarian menu at lunchtime, consisting of 4 starters, 4 main courses, homemade desserts and homemade breads to choose from along with drinks – all for just over ten euros. The menu consists of international dishes, depending on the season of the year, and is elegantly presented. The ambience is one of quietness and it feels cosy and inviting.
