One hour and forty-five minutes from the center of Barcelona you can spend a delightful day at Empuriabrava’s wonderful Butterfly Park.
This interactive park allows the visitors to observe the fauna from up close, by entering the 1000 m2 jungle-like greenhouse, where they can see a variety of butterflies.
The park’s staff is always present to teach the visitors about each species feeding habits, their reproductive patterns, their metamorphosis processes and their defense and camouflage mechanisms.
Though the park’s main objective is to inform the visitors about the importance of butterfly conservation and the conservation of their natural habitats, there other animals that can be seen at Butterfly Park Empuriabrava like birds, lizards and small mammals.
Visitors are encouraged to interact with the animals, being allowed to hold, touch and feed them under a staff member’s supervision.
Butterfly Park Empuriabrava values the flora as much as the fauna because they know and want to teach visitors about the importance of a balanced ecosystem, where the animals can live a happy and healthy life.
The Butterfly Park is in Costa Brava, in an area rich in nature and culture. The park is located right next to Aigyamolls de l’Empordá Natural Park, close to Cap de Creus Natural Park and Paraje Natural de la Albera.
The park is open 365 days a year, from 10 am until one hour before sundown, except for February, when it remains open only until 2 pm.
The ticket price is 9,50€ for adults and 7,50€ for kids between 4 and 11 years old. Children under 4 enter for free.
