Why rent an apartment in the neighbourhood of Verdun, Barcelona?

The neighbourhood of Verdun is a straightforward neighbourhood in the district of Nou Barris with many hard-working people. This district is one of the largest districts in Barcelona, and it is located in the northern part of the city.

The neighbourhood of Verdun is a quiet, working-class area. Its name leads back to the French town of Verdun. The main street in the neighbourhood in Barcelona was named after the battle that took place in Verdun in 1919, but later the whole neighbourhood started to carry the name Verdun.

If you are looking to rent an apartment in the district of Nou Barris, and if you are searching for a quiet and well-connected area, the neighbourhood of Verdun can be an excellent option.

The neighbourhood of Verdun is characterized by having a triangular shape, thanks to the large apartment buildings that form this peculiar shape. The area consisted of a large forest in the beginning, and later it was transformed into vineyards and farmland, like most of the peripheral areas of the district of Ciutat Vella.

Little by little, the area changed, until housing was built to accommodate the large stream of immigrants, that came to Barcelona to improve their financial situation.

The neighbourhood changed in appearance from 1904, when the adjacent neighbourhood of Vilapicina was being developed. Summer homes for factory workers were now being constructed, and the definitive transformation of Verdun took place in the middle of the 20th century, when the famous Cases del Governador were built to accommodate immigrants and to give them a better home, than the conditions they were in at the time.

But these constructions were not adequate either, so later new homes had to be built in compliance with building regulations. The neighbourhood has slowly been improved, and now it is an area for families, with tranquillity, services and good connections. Rental prices are quite affordable, so it is an ideal part of the city for families or people who wish to rent an apartment in an established area with fairly cheap prices.

It can also be very interesting for students who seek greater privacy, who do not mind living at a greater distance from the city centre, and who want to rent a cheap apartment without having to share it with other people.
