Tea rooms in Gràcia

Written by Miguel

When autumn comes around and the temperatures drop, refreshments and ice creams lose their appeal. But just because you can’t take advantage of the many sunny terraces of Barcelona, it doesn’t mean you can’t still have a great time in the city. To warm up your body and soul, the capital of Catalonia offers you many comfortable spaces where you can take a hot sip of tea and a tasty bite in the colder months of the year. The neighbourhood of Gràcia, in particular, has some of the best tea rooms in the city.

Owned by a young Catalan and his Chinese wife, Tetere is a tea room and shop dedicated to promoting tea culture and traditions. Offering a wide variety of Chinese and Japanese infusions, as well as various sweet treats, this cozy and quiet place is inspired by the oriental tea shops of the ’30s.

In its store, you can buy all of the same products that are offered for consumption, as well as all the accessories you need to prepare your tea at home in accordance with the most traditional eastern methods. Another great thing about Tetere is its staff –  gentle and attentive, they are always willing to provide information about the products and how to use them. Tetere regularly produces workshops, tastings and tea ceremonies, so make sure to stay tuned to their social media presence.

Address: Carrer de Saragossa, 113.

Elephanta

One of the most famous tea rooms in Gràcia, Elephanta also functions as a sophisticated cocktail bar.  Charming and welcoming, it offers about 50 different teas, which you can accompany with delicious homemade cookies and cakes. At night, when cocktails rule the place, gin is the undisputed king – there are 40 different combinations for you to try!  If you’re a wine enthusiast, you’ll like to know that they also sometimes promote wine tastings – so keep an eye out for any announcements of upcoming events.

A bar and tea room of Arabic inspiration, Jazmín offers a large selection of teas, as well as pastas and various tidbits. A staple of the Gràcia neighbourhood for the last 20 years, it has a super relaxed atmosphere that is perfectly complemented by a beautiful selection of Arab music. We highly recommend that you try their amazing Tunisian tea with pine nuts.
