Where to have ice cream in Raval

Written by Thompson Crowley

Depending on where you’ve come from, the weather in Barcelona is usually hot. This part of the world is blessed with a pleasing climate and, usually, the sun will be blazing, the skies open and blue, and a warm wind weaving its way in from the Mediterranean. It’s so nice! But sometimes it can get a little too much and the heat can be overpowering. Sometimes you’ve just got to cool down and what better way to do so than grabbing yourself an ice cream?

As well as there being great meals on offer in Barcelona, there are also scrumptious desserts to be had. And ice cream is no exception. There are some really great places selling a variety of flavours. Here’s our top 4 in Raval:

Nice Cream

Perhaps it’s a bit too much of a pun, but Nice Cream on Carrer de l’Hospital is well worth visiting. All the products they serve are really fresh and satisfying. They have a nice variety of flavours on offer, such as fig and mascarpone. The outdoor seating area overlooks plaza de San Augustin, where there’s plenty of space for children to run around in, and in the evening sometimes the odd musician playing.

Mimos Frozen Yogurt

Mimos Frozen Yogurt is situated on Carrer del Carme. They specialize in frozen yogurt but also have a wide range of ice creams on offer. Everything is free from artificial ingredients, and also free from sugar, so here you can get a healthy dessert without having to feel guilty! They also offer samples, so you can try before you buy!

Address: Carrer Carme, 39, 08001 Barcelona

Geladeria Torroneria Sirvent

Located on Ronda de Sant Pau, Geladeria Torroneria Sirvent is a Mexican ice cream parlour. Here you can get the well-known horchata, made from almond milk. They have a wide selection of flavours on offer and everything is reasonably priced.

And finally, Amorino. This little gem is located on La Ramblas, not far from Plaça de Catalunya. It is a little more expensive than the aforementioned premises, but why not splash out? You’re on holiday! It really is worth the extra money. You’ll find this chain in cities all over Europe, but the one in Barcelona really is something. All the flavours are so extremely sumptuous, each one perfectly balanced to stimulate your taste buds. They have a vast amount of choice. And every single one is crafted to perfection, more art than just an ice cream.
