Cruilla Barcelona Summer Festival 2016: Music and fun for all

Written by Miguel

If you’re in Barcelona, you can’t miss it; If you’re not, this is the perfect time to visit the city; Now, if you’ve been to Cruilla last year, you’ve probably been waiting for this year’s edition for a long time. On the weekend of July 8-10, the renowned and much-anticipated Cruilla Barcelona Summer Festival is back to the capital of Catalonia.

With an eclectic line-up capable of appealing to fans of all genres, the event’s 10th edition promises to once again attract thousands of people to Parc del Fórum. You should really check the full schedule because we don’t want you to miss anything, but with that said, these are some of the names we highly recommend:

Damien Rice (July 8) – After a start in the music business as part of the band Juniper, Damien Rice got his first big break in 2002 when he released his first solo album, ‘O’. Met with both critical acclaim and commercial success, it catapulted him into becoming one of the most respected singer-songwriters of his generation.

Cat Power (July 8) – A singer-songwriter with a long and respected career, Cat Power’s struggles with stage fright caused her to develop a reputation as an unpredictable live act. In recent years, experience and confidence have taken over and the woman her parents called Charlyn Marie Marshall has become an unmissable live performer that you won’t want to miss.

Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters (July 9) – After an absence of 26 years, the former lead singer of the legendary Led Zeppelin brings his newly formed band to the seaside of Barcelona to present new album “Lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar”. Don’t miss it!

Calexico (July 10) – Calexico might as well be the hosts of a cooking show, because they mastered a recipe no one before them could: a table spoon of Tex-Mex folk, two portions of pop, all mixed in with a tiny bit of waltz… you really need to hear it to believe it. The duo of Joey Burns and John Convertino will be glad to serve you their specialty dish in the last day of Cruilla, and we’re sure you’re going to go home satisfied.
