Barcelona Cooking

Barcelona Cooking was founded in 2012 by three friends from Galicia: Cándido, Tony and Emma. Passionate about gastronomy, the three decided to create a recreational cooking school where they could teach people how to prepare Spanish dishes.

Cándido  Cid is not only one of the founders of Barcelona Cooking, but is also the Executive Chef and Instructor.

Tony Martinez is Barcelona Cooking’s Managing Executive. He has over twenty years of corporate work experience in marketing, sales and business development, and is the creator behind many of Barcelona Cooking’s adventures.

barcelona barcelona eatEmma Valcárcel plays the part of Executive Director at Barcelona Cooking, managing the daily requirements of the business and ensuring the company’s optimal performance.

The team offers classes in one of their two kitchens located at Las Ramblas. The ingredients used in each class are carefully selected fresh, seasonal, locally grown ingredients purchased at La Boqueria market.

Classes & Activities

Barcelona Cooking offers a variety of classes and activities in Spanish or English. The classes are suitable for both experienced and new cooks, offering activities in the food preparation process for every skill level. The participants are served wine from Barcelona Cooking’s private label, a Rioja red and a Galician white.

Spanish Cooking Class. The Spanish Cooking Class teaches students how to prepare a four-course menu that combines dishes from Spain’s rich culinary history, along with some of Catalonia’s most popular dishes.

Spanish Cooking Class & La Boqueria. This four-hour activity starts with a tour of La Boqueria market, guided by Barcelona Cooking’s chefs, where students will learn about locally grown products and will actively participate in the selection of the ingredients for the class. Back at Barcelona Cooking’s kitchen, the students will learn how to prepare a four-course menu that includes paella, starter soup, appetizer and dessert.

Classic Tapas Class. Classic Tapas Class is a three-hour activity in which students will be taught how to prepare Spanish and Catalan tapas, and then, eat them.

barcelona barcelona eatCatalan Tapas & Wine Class + La Boqueria. The activity starts with a tour of La Boqueria market, followed by a class that teaches the students how to pair certain Catalan Tapas with wine. The students will help to prepare the tapas while enjoying a variety of Catalan wines.
