There’s no better way to spend an afternoon than in one of Barcelona’s lush, green parks. Enjoy a picnic in Parc de la Ciutadella or explore the magic and beauty of Parc Güell. You can spend the day in the sunshine, enjoying the views, and taking Barcelona at a slower pace. You can go for a jog, rent a bike, or just soak up all the fresh air. Barcelona offers many parks across the city, so choose your favorite and get out and enjoy the scenery.

Go for a hike

To head outside of the city, you and your friends can go hiking in one of several spots that aren’t too far away. One of Catalonia’s most iconic hiking spots is Montserrat, a mountainous park that is unlike any other. It is easily accessible by public transportation and makes for a great day trip. A little bit closer to the city you can find Carretera de les Aigües, a natural park with plenty of hiking paths to explore. This park is just a short trip away by car or by public transportation, and you can get some of the best views of Barcelona from there.

Explore the local markets

Try out some of the foods and local goods available at Barcelona’s many markets. The most iconic of them is La Boqueria, located on La Rambla, but you can explore some of the smaller markets like Santa Caterina or Sant Antoni. There are also several flea markets held on various days and locations in Barcelona, most notably Mercat dels Encants near Glòries.

Go on a walking tour

To really get to know the city or perhaps to see it from a different perspective, you and your friends should consider going on a walking tour of Barcelona. Several companies offer walking tours, some free and some with a small fee, depending on the tour. You can go on tours of certain neighborhoods or choose one that lets you try tapas and wine along the way. Whichever you choose, there are tons of tours out there that will show you a side of Barcelona that you never knew before.
