Wallapop is a startup straight from Barcelona, offering you a new way to buy, sell and exchange goods. This site is similar to more familiar ones such as Craig’s List or Milanuncios: you can search for items for sale and browse the results to see what turns up. Wallapop will show you what’s in your area and the going price of the item. While you can browse items through the website you must download the app for iPhone or Android in order to be able to contact buyers and sellers. Once you have the app you have options to functions like “chat” in which you can ask questions, make an offer, or to buy the product as listed. In the ads you can see photos of the item as well as a detailed description to tell you more information. Some items might be new or like new and others might be well-used, but Wallapop is a great option to keep in mind when you’re on a budget or want to buy something for less than what you would find it for in the store.

Selling

Selling items on Wallapop is a piece of cake, especially if you follow their suggestions for being a successful seller. To sell anything on Wallapop you must first create a listing for what you want to sell, giving a brief but accurate description of the product. It’s useful to include a description that gives details that are truthful, so that the buyer won’t change their mind or feel differently about the product if it isn’t as described. You should also include pictures to supplement your ad, to give anyone browsing your ad a true sense of the product and of what they can expect. The pictures should be of good quality and true to the product. Lastly, set a price that is fair for the product. List it at the price is it currently worth, not the price you paid for it 5 years ago!

Buying

After you have decided upon a product, you need to contact the seller to either make an offer or buy it as is. Either way, you must arrange a meeting with the seller to meet and pay for the item. Make the meeting in a public yet convenient place for both of you to get to and arrive on time at the spot. No payment goes through Wallapop, the seller brings the item to the meeting place so that you can inspect it and see the condition firsthand and test it out. If all appears well you then pay the seller the amount agreed upon beforehand. Once you have paid the seller, the item is all yours for you to enjoy!
