Going out at night in El Born – Part 1

Written by Miguel

It might be called the “old part of town”, but El Born is actually one of the most lively and modern areas of Barcelona. If you’re planning a night out with friends, there are plenty of cool bars and clubs in the district where you’ll be guaranteed to have a good time. Here are our picks for you:

Cactus Bar

Famous for its great terrace, this is a cosy and elegant place with a double life – it’s a coffee shop during the day and cocktail bar at night.

With a long list of drinks to choose from and a dynamic schedule, it’s a great option for any night of the week – live concerts and DJ sessions take place from Monday through Thursday, while the second Sunday of each month is dedicated to music from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Make sure to check out the official Cactus Bar website and take a look at their event schedule, so you can choose the perfect night for you and your friends.

Address: Passeig del Born, 30.

Magic Club

A legendary rock nightclub dating back to the 70s, Magic Club opens at midnight on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and allows you to dance to your favourite rock hits until the sun rises. It also serves as a concert hall, having hosted hundreds of both local and international bands. It’s normally already full around 2 AM, so you’d be advised to go a little earlier.

Address: Passeig de Picasso, 40.

Another highlight of the vibrant El Born nightlife is Miramelindo, a cocktail bar with skilled bartenders who will prepare you the best mojitos and caipirinhas you’ve ever tasted. With background music that favours laid-back genres such as classical jazz, it is the ideal place to relax after dinner and start your evening out in the best of ways.

Address: Passeig del Born, 15.
