One of the jewels of the Catalan modernist movement, Sant Pau Recinte Modernista was designed by prominent architect Lluís Domênech I Montaner and inaugurated in 1930. With time, the work done by the architect was hidden under layers of plaster and other materials used during construction work.
It took many years for his work to be discovered, when the building was being remodeled. Today, ShBarcelona gives you some basic information on Sant Pau Recinte Modernista.

Getting to Sant Pau Recinte Modernista

Sant Pau Recinte Modernista is located at Carrer Sant Antoni Maria Claret, 167, in the district of Horta-Guinardó, bordering the Sagrada Familia neighbourhood.
The best way to get there when using public transportation is by taking the blue line (L5) of the subway and stopping at Sant Pau/Dos de Maig, or taking bus H8, 19, 20, 45, 51, 92, 117 or 192.

If you are planning to take a self-guided visit between the months of November and March, you can access the venue between 9:30 am and 5:30 pm from Monday to Saturday, opening only until 3 pm on Sundays and holidays.
If you are planning to visit between April and October, go between 9:30 am and 7 pm, from Monday to Saturday. The schedule for Sundays and holidays remains the same all year long.
If you prefer to take a guided visit, they start 11 am in English, 12 pm in Spanish, and 12:30 pm in Catalan on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays. French guided visits only take place on Saturday at 10:30 am.
Sant Pau Recinte Modernista is closed on the 25th of December.

Buying tickets

You can either buy your tickets online or directly at the venue. The prices are as follows: ticket for a self-guided visit – 15€, ticket for a guided visit – 20€. People between 12 and 29 years old, people over 65 years old, and people with disability pay 10,50€ for the self-guided visit ticket, and 14€ for the ticket that includes the guided visit.
There is also a 20% discount for people carrying one of the following cards: BCN Card, Bus Turístic, City Tours, Carnet BCN Cultural, and Libraries of Barcelona card.
Those who have tickets for the Ruta del Modernisme and who have a Carnet Jove can enjoy a 50% discount.
Admission is free for children under 12 years old and people with a disability degree of dependency of 3 and their companion.
There are certain days in the year when Sant Pau Recinte Modernista can be visited for free: the 23rd of April, the 24th of September, and the first Sunday of each month (only self-guided visits). And even if you are just staying in Barcelona for a couple of days, Sant Pau Recinte Modernista is absolutely worth paying a visit.

When you check their website, there is no option to buy tickets (or make reservations) for every first Sunday of the month.
It doesn’t say if you get your free ticket when you enter the venue…
