But it is such a popular drink in the city that, after staying here for a while, you will be curious to see what all the fuss is about. You’ll often see people enjoying it on Sundays before lunch and there are plenty of trendy vermouth bars to choose from. One of the best places to drink it is near the beach whilst enjoying the sunshine. So here are some suggestions on where to get a vermouth near the beach.

Bar Bodega L’Electricitat

Located close to Barceloneta market, you’ll find this small but lively bodega. Bar Bodega L’Electricitat may not be the biggest venue but it makes up for it in its authentic, local atmosphere. It is a typical old fashioned bar that is decorated with traditional wooden barrels and menus hung up with the different tapas on offer. Bar Bodega L’Electricitat serves an excellent crab salad and bomba, which help make this one of the best places to enjoy a vermouth in Barceloneta.

Chringuito La Deliciosa
You can’t get much closer to the beach than at Chringuito La Deliciosa. It’s known for its good service, attentive staff, some great cocktails and, of course, it’s ‘vermut de la casa’ or homemade vermouth. From the terrace, you can enjoy a beautiful view of Barceloneta beach whilst trying a selection of tasty tapas from the menu.

Bodega Fermín

This is another authentic bodega that will help make you feel more like a local. Bodega Fermín serves vermouth, local wines and craft beers, both local and foreign. Beer bottles hang from the ceiling above the bar, and shelves are filled with local wines. There’s no need for fancy decorations here, it’s stripped back to the bare essentials, focusing on serving good vermouth and tapas. The bodega doesn’t have a kitchen, so once the dishes that have been cooked beforehand have run out you can choose from the delicious cured meats or pintxos. It offers good value for money and if you want to take something home to save for later, you can fill up an empty bottle with one of the wines from the barrels.
