Top Tea Rooms in El Raval

Written by Jessica Peace

El Raval is one of the most historical neighbourhoods in Barcelona. It borders one side of the famous Las Ramblas, whilst Barri Gotic borders the other. When it comes to tourism El Raval is one of the lesser known areas of Barcelona but it should not be overlooked.

The area has plenty to offer: it boasts a vibrant nightlife scene with cocktail bars and cabaret shows and it also has many restaurants and patisseries. El Raval is also the home to some fantastic tea-rooms. Tea is a beverage that is enjoyed in many countries and consumed following different traditions. From authentic black teas to fresh bubble teas, El Raval offers something for everyone.

Follow ShBarcelona and discover some of our favorite places to stop for tea in the Raval neighborhood.

We begin with Barcelona´s first traditional tea house which prides itself on offering the finest selection of gourmet teas from all over the world. Located towards Barri Gottic but still in the district of El Raval, is Caj Chai.

Inspired by the bohemian tea rooms of Prague, Caj Chai is an artisan haven and a place for tea-lovers alike. Here, tea-making is seen as a craft. Staff members are passionate about tea and ensure a bespoke service for all customers. Learn more about tea culture whilst sampling teas from around the world.

Chok The Chocolate Kitchen

Chok The Chocolate Kitchen not exactly a tea room. It is, as you can imagine, dedicated to all things chocolate. Chok offers a range of delicious chocolate-based treats, including their signature gourmet doughnuts. Their beautiful although small location is a great place to enjoy with a tea or coffee with a side of pastry!

Mailuna is a tea room where visitors can taste a variety of teas from all over the world. Their wide selection includes green teas, black teas, herbal teas, chai and many more. The also serve espresso, coffee with milk, iced coffee and many sweet treats such as cakes, pies and crepes. Enjoy a warm, sweet beverage whilst soothing music plays in the background, for a truly relaxing tea break.

Address: Carrer de Valldonzella, 48

Soho

Another great tea room in the area is called Soho. Though this may look rustic-chic on the outside, the inside is rather cozy and the service is excellent. Soho offers a selection of teas to suit all tastes, however, their specialty is authentic black tea which is stronger and much more flavorsome than other teas.

As it is located close to the University of Barcelona (UB) and the prices are affordable, it is not uncommon for students to stop by for a drink. Soho also has Shisha pipes on offer, where visitors can enjoy smoking tobacco mixed with different flavors.
