In the past few years, Catalunya has gone completely bonkers for swing dancing. In Barcelona, a series of swing schools started popping up and city even started organizing swing festivals.

If you happen to be walking down the street and bump into couples dancing in an agile manner to the rhythm of lively music, chances are you walked into one of the various swing events that are now common in the city.

Don’t be surprised if you suddenly find yourself dancing as well. Swing is a very inviting type of music that invites our bodies to move.

Swing Barcelona

Swing Barcelona is a studio located in the heart of the city, at Carrer Moles 32, just next to Plaza Catalunya. Students can learn to dance the Lindy Hop, the Charleston, Balboa, Blues and Boogie-Woogie. There are a variety of classes for adults and kids each month. You can choose between taking one of the regular courses, an intensive course, workshops & monographs, private tutoring or special classes. The school also offers classes for kids.

Swing Maniacs

This dance school was founded by Jana Grulichová and Jordi Mundet, a pair of aficionados who studied swing in workshops all around the world.

Today, Swing Maniacs is one of the most important dance schools in Barcelona, with a team of almost 50 teachers. The school offers the following classes: Lindy Hop, Charleston, ballet, tap, balboa, blues, hip-hop and funk.

The school has various locations around town: one in Gràcia (Carrer Eglésia 4), one in Poblenou (Passatge de Pere Ripoll, 5), one in Badalona (Carrer de la Mercè, 58) and one in Sant Cugat (Carrer Enric Granados, 6).

Spank the baby

Spank the baby is a swing dance school in Raval that teaches styles like the Lindy Hop, the Charleston and Jazz Steps. The school also organizes a series of activities connected to music.
