The best spaces to barcecue in Barcelona

Written by Gill

Is there anything better than a day in the sun with friends? We think not. Spring has arrived tp Barcelona and that means it’s BBQ time!

There is not an obvious abundance of green spaces to whack out a barbecue in the middle of Barcelona and many people do not have the luxury of a garden or a roof terrace. In addition, there are strict rules in the city on having an open flame in public (so no BBQing on the beach!).

So where can you go to grill? Here are our recommendations for the best places in Barcelona to get your BBQ on.

Parc de Collserola

Within the beautiful green Parc de Collserola there are two free municipal spaces for you to BBQ with friends. One, at Santa Creu d’Olorda, can be reached by foot if you’re not adverse to an energetic walk. The other, at Torrent de Can Coll, is easier to access since you can get there with your own transport. The park is easily reachable from the centre of the city by the FGC trainline, which runs from Plaça de Catalunya up through Gracia.

El Merendero

About 15 minutes by train from Plaça de Catalunya, El Merendero is a picnic spot within Collserola Park. Here you can rent seats, barbecue grills and all other equipment you’ll need for a few euros per hour – all you need to do is bring the food. There is also a bar for when your beer inevitably runs out before the sausages are done. The only downside to this place is how busy it gets in the summer months – not a rural, secluded experience but a fun fiesta-style one nonetheless.

Blancher

At the Blancher vineyard, there is a dedicated barbecue area for customers to enjoy. You will need to purchase 6 bottles of cava or wine from the vineyard to enjoy the barbecue facilities but then why wouldn’t you want a crisp glass of their delicious cava with your smokey meats? They have the grills so you just need to bring the rest. Blancher is open from 10h to 17h on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.

Barbacoa Begues

Barbacoa Begues in Valparaiso is a BBQ-lover’s paradise. They have 70 grills available in different shapes and sizes, including ‘Foc Rodo,’ their biggest barbecue. Roll up your sleeves, grab a table and get your grill on. The setting is beautiful too, rural and green, with some great views. A bit of a drive out of Barcelona but a great place to make a day of it.
