One thing that is big business in the city and helps to bring out the festive Barcelona atmosphere so well are the Nativity scenes. One particular scene worth looking at is housed at Plaça Sant Jaume. This is unlike any other you will see on display throughout Spain as it is a life size version and each year the city asked a different designer to create it for them.
Okay so there are far less tourists around when winter Barcelona finally arrives, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t as exciting. You’ll still find yourself spoilt for choice as the city makes sure that each year is very special by organising a wide range of festivities throughout the month of December into the month of January. Plus the streets are totally transformed into something truly beguiling because of all the christmas decorations.
If you intend to visit Barcelona next Christmas and would like to carry out a little shopping at first then the best time to plan you winter vacation would be towards the end of November and the beginning of December. During these two weeks a number of different events occur. The first of these being that all the shops along the Passeig de Gràcia open their doors to us from 20.00 hours until 01.00 hours. This will really get your shopping for Christmas presents off on the right footing.
Barcelona seasons may come and go but at least you can be assured of a warm welcome no matter what time of year you choose to visit. But if you want a little peace and quiet during your trip then now would be the perfect time to visit.
