Catalonia is an autonomous community with a lot of diversity and many incredible places. From the breathtaking Costa Brava with its beautiful beaches,  the fresh water rivers passing through the volcanic area of La Garrotxa with its lovely culinary offer, the charming Cerdanya with more quiet places, to the wines that the Penedès has to offer, the rural and typical landscape of Vall d’Aran, the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona, the delightful and warm beaches of the Costa Dorada, the Roman remnants of Tarragona, and the great variety of birds in the Ebro Delta. There is so much to see and do in Catalonia, the possibilities are endless. For example, you can spend a few days of your Holy Week in the Cerdanya. This region covers part of the provinces of Girona and Lleida, and the capital is the picturesque town of Puigcerdà. You can find some of the most popular ski slopes in this enclave, between mountains with its special valley climate, and tourism in winter is the main source of income. People from Barcelona also enjoy skiing here. Thanks to the Cadí tunnel, Vall d’Aran is quite close to Barcelona, which means you can reach the mountain range and the ski slopes from the Catalan capital in just over 2 hours.

The area of the Costa Brava is frequently visited by both national and international tourists. The different coastal villages are an ideal destination by itself and each have their own charm. If you want to go shopping after swimming in the most refreshing blue waters of the sea, for example, you can visit Platja d’Aro. This is a lovely, tourist village with shops, restaurants, cocktail bars and play areas for children. It is an ideal place for an unforgettable and enjoyable afternoon or evening. Platja d’Aro was a very fashionable town in the 80’s and 90’s, and although it has lost some of that glamour, it still has that special charm. The area of l’Empordà is also perfect for your getaway. This region in Girona is divided in the Baix Empordà and the Alt Empordà, and you can tour some truly charming villages with renovated stone houses and a special atmosphere, that will be hard to forget. If you are looking for tranquility, history and excellent cuisine, any town in l’Empordà will serve your purpose, and you will discover even so much more!
