Catalonia has some incredible natural landscapes to enjoy on foot or by bike. Now that summer is just around the corner it’s the perfect time to explore more of the region. So here are some suggestions for beautiful natural pools to visit and help cool you down in the summer heat.

Fontcalda is located in Gandesa, a town that is halfway between Barcelona and Valencia. The best way to get to this natural spring is on foot by one of the many hiking trails available in the mountains. The water can often reach a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, a perfect temperature to go for a swim after all that walking. You’ll find the natural pool tucked away in a beautiful mountain setting which makes it a perfect city escape.
Toll del Vidre means “glass pool” in English and as the name of the pool suggests the water is crystal clear, running down from the river Algars. Here you can go take a dip and go swimming whilst being completely surrounded by the nature of Parque Natural de Els Ports. The pool is located in the province of Tarragona close to the village Arnes and can be accessed by bike or car.

In the province of Girona you can find the peaceful natural pools of Aniol D’aguja. The region is popular with hikers where you can find a route taking you through gorges up to a small chapel at Sant Aniol D’aguja. Along the way, you will find small pools with crystal clear water and a waterfall.
The Gorg river route is also known as the “Route of the 7 Gorges” or Ruta Dels 7 Gorgs in Catalan. It is a very popular route where you can visit 7 Gorges near the town of Campdevànol in the province of Girona. You can complete the route in 3 hours but, of course, that all depends on how many stops you take for photos and breaks to admire the view. The route is clearly signposted and is popular amongst families, especially during the summer months.
