How to buy tickets to MNAC?

The National Museum of Catalan Art or MNAC is one of the most important museums in all of Catalonia, featuring works by a great number of locals artists and some international artists as well. Created in 1929, the museum has a very large collection divided into Romanesque Art, Gothic Art, Renaissance and Baroque Art, Modern Art, Drawings, Paintings, and Posters, Photography, and Numismatics.

How can I buy tickets to MNAC?

The regular ticket costs 12€ per person, if you only want to see the museum’s permanent collection. There are often temporary exhibits at MNAC, for which you will have to buy a separate ticket which usually doesn’t go for higher than 6€. There is a 30% discount for students, groups, and families. Those who have a Carnet Jove will benefit from a 50% discount. There is also a separate ticket to visit the museum’s rooftop, which costs 2€ per person. Those who are under 16 years old, over 65 years old, and disabled people can go in for free. The ticket gives visitors the opportunity to visit the museum on two different days in the same month. The month starts counting from the date the ticket is purchased.

There is also the possibility of visiting the museum for free each Saturday after 3 pm, the first Sunday of each month, the 12th of February, Santa Eulàli’s day, the 18th of May, the International Museum Day, the 11th of September, the national day of Catalonia, and the 24th of September, Day of la Mercè.

You can either buy tickets directly at the ticket office or at Barcelona Turisme. You can also buy tickets online, on MNAC’s or Barcelona Turisme’s website.

What is MNAC’s schedule?

From October to April MNAC is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm, and on Sundays and public holidays from 10 am to 3 pm. From May to September MNAC is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm and on Sundays and public holidays from 10 am to 3 pm.

Where is MNAC located?

Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya is located at Palau Nacional. To get there, you can take the green (L3) or red (L1) line of the subway and exit at Espanya. You can also get buses 9, 13, 27, 37, 50, 55, 65, 79, 109, 150, 165, D20, H12, and V7.
