Gay or “gayfriendly” bars and discos in Barcelona

Written by Adriana

Barcelona is one of the most “gay-friendly” city in Spain and annually hosts the largest and most important gay festival in Europe, the Circuit Festival, becoming a recognized place by the gay social movement. Many people visit the city looking for places where they can be themselves without being judge, as they can’t be like this in their hometown. In order to let these tourists or visitors enjoy the leisure that they are looking for in Barcelona, we give them some advices about gay or gay-friendly bars, clubs and discos where they can feel comfortable and have a drink.

Grupo Arena: Grupo Arena offers a wide range of gay bars and clubs in Barcelona. Under its name there are up to 7 bars, clubs and discos: Bar Punto, Aire Club (for girls only), Arena Madre, Arena Classic, Arena VIP, Sala Tango, and Safari Disco Club. Most clubs and bars are very close to each other and you can find discounts and free tickets if you go early.

Discoteca Metro: This club is for boys only. The perfect place to go dancing and “flirting”, sometimes even way too much. There you will listen to electronic music (house, techno, commercial progressive, etc.) and there are usually Drag Queens shows and strippers. At the Metro club you will spend an unforgettable night of entertainment!

Cabaret Berlín: This club used to be an “escorting club”, and still retains the structure and interior decoration with velvet sofas, reserved areas, mirrored columns, central bar and a stage to enjoy some performances. In Cabaret Berlin they held parties regularly that welcome the most beautiful gays and lesbians in the city. Really authentic!

Sala Apolo: although this club isn’t a exclusively gay nightclub in the Sala Apolo some gay parties are celebrated very often. One of them is called Somoslas (gayfriendly) and the other one is called Les Fatales. Dj’s at these parties play electro-pop, rock, pop, or electronic music depending on each event. For further information you can visit the following Facebook pages: Les Fatales / Somoslas

La Casa de la Pradera: in this bar located in Carretes Street, in the heart of Raval, you’ll find a gay-friendly environment that is fun and crazy. For the short time that La Casa de la Pradera has been open has a good reputation and is a reference for everyone in this area. At weekend you will find special events and great music to dance or have a drink while sitting on comfortable couches.

Chiringuito Amparo & Chiringuito de la Mar Bella: these places are only open during the summer and are located on the sandy beaches of the Mar Bella, the best well-known for gays visiting Barcelona. In a relaxed atmosphere you can enjoy a refreshing cocktail, eat some tapas, a salad or a delicious burger, enjoy electronic or chill out music until the sun sets. The prices of these bars are not cheap but they worth it…
