The Autonomous University of Barcelona, or Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) in Catalan, is located on the outskirts of Barcelona in a little place called Cerdanyola del Vallès. However, there are also several different centres in Catalonia, including Barcelona. You can get there by the Renfe train, bus, or a short drive from Barcelona city centre.

The Autonomous University of Barcelona first started educating students almost fifty years ago in June of 1968. During the period between 1985 and 1992, the university formed several new faculties. In 1993, the UAB‘s campus also got revamped. Nowadays, the campus accommodation has added up to 812 apartments, with a total accommodation capacity of 2,193.
The apartments at Vila Universitària are renowned for their beautiful surroundings. There is a great view, a lovely forest, and a campus that’s great for going for a walk to escape the hours of study. There is also great public transportation available with trains and buses making quick forty-minute trips to Barcelona’s city centre daily.
On the campus, there are 50,000 inhabitants (staff, students, lecturers, researchers etc.) The campus has all the services the students need, including accommodation, specialised libraries, healthcare centre, cafés, restaurants, a language centre, a gym, pool, football pitch, and other sports facilities.

The UAB aims to be an international University, and this is clear by the number of international students around the campus. They offer plenty of degrees in English, including Tourism, Business, Economics, and many other subjects.

Research is a huge part of the university. There are over 200 research groups and over 50 departments. The research aspect offers students the opportunity to stand out more with their degrees. The university also encourages students to take part in volunteering and community service as well as carrying out awareness-raising events.
