Inaugurated in 1997, the Erotic Museum of Barcelona aspires to share the culture and history of eroticism with the world.

This one of a kind museum presents the visitors with pieces from:

Pin-up culture: images of American girls from the 60’s posing in a sexy manner, like Marilyn Monroe in the famous Tom Kelly calendar photo.

Oriental eroticism: images representing sex in Japanese art.

Erotic Picasso: two engravings representing the feminine nude and explicit sex themes.

Phallic tradition: a large collection of phalluses from Thailand that represent fertility, eroticism, power and divine protection.

Private erotic video collection of King Alfonso XIII: short films from the beginning of the Spanish pornographic cinema.

World cultures: a series of drawings, popular art and cult objects that represent human sexuality in different cultures of the world.

Ancient civilizations: a trip into sexuality in ancient times.

Great masters of painting: reproductions of erotic pieces by artists like Klimt, Goya, Velázquez, Rubens and Boucher, among others.

Kama Sutra: illustrations, sculptures and wood and stone carvings representing positions from the Kama Sutra.

Eroticism in Europe: illustration, lithographs, photographs, images and recordings from the nineteenth and twentieth-century erotic art.

Sexual records: a collection of images and facts about sexuality, such as who has the most voluptuous natural breasts in the world and the record for the fastest ejaculation.

Fetishism and sadomasochism: a collection that shows how pleasure and pain meet in art.

Contemporary and temporary exhibitions: photography, painting and sculptures from the twentieth and the twenty-first century.

The museum also has an erotic garden with beautiful plants and thought-provoking items.

The museum is open every day of the year from 10h to 24h. Tickets cost 9€, 8€ if you are a student, a senior or a disabled person.

You can find the Museu de l’erotica Barcelona at La Rambla, number 96, right in front of the Boqueria market.

To reach the museum you can use the green line (L3) or red line (L1) of the subway, stopping at Liceu (L3) or Plaça Catalunya(L1). You can also use buses number 14, 59, 91 or take the train stopping at Plaça Catalunya and walking the rest of the way.
