Eating Out In Barcelona – Tapas You Should Try

Written by Damien

Barcelona is a truly amazing city and I find myself choosing to stay here at least one week each year.  But rather than booking a hotel I choose to arrange to stay in one of the many apartments to rent in Barcelona.

In fact every time I visit this city I always imagine what it would be like to live in Barcelona on a full time basis.  By staying in Barcelona apartments for rent, helps me to turn my dreams into a reality, even if it is only for a short while.

Although I like to prepare a lot of meals for myself because there are some really amazing markets in the city where really good quality fresh produce can be brought.  I also like to go out and try food in the local bars and restaurants.  But I prefer to stay away from the areas of the city where the tourists like to eat and instead head off to areas of the city where those who live in the city go.

Over the time there are a few tapas bars that I have chosen to frequent more than once when I have spent time in Barcelona.   I have decided to let you in on these and hopefully after arranging to rent a flat in Barcelona you may want to try them out when you visit this beautiful city.

The first tapas bar I would recommend you try is that known as Tasca el Corral and is located in the Gothic Quarter of the city.  From the outside it may look quite a gloomy place, but appearances can be deceptive.   The food offered here is delicious and is frequented by locals later in the evening.  One speciality of this bar you have got to try is Chorizo al Diablo with Manchego Cheese and Cider.

The next bar that serves tapas you should try is Set del Born.  Although this is frequented by those that are considered to be part of the hip crowd it is a superb place if you are going to spend the night hopping from one tapas bar to the next.  This is located only a short distance from Barcelona’s zoological park.

What I recommend you try when you decide to visit this particular bar is the Pata Negra along with the Patatas Bravas that they prepare in a very special way.

However if you are looking for a more sophisticated vibe then head to Segons Mercat, which is located in the very heart of Barceloneta.  Unlike other tapas bars in the city this one specializes in both fish and seafood.  However I would still recommend that you try their filet of beef with port wine and foie sauce as you sit on its beautiful terrace watching the world go by in the evening.

Then end your evening at Bubo close to Santa Maria del mar Cathedral, and whose chocolate store provides them with a wide array of beautiful desserts.
