The Best Carrot Cakes in Barcelona

Written by Rachel

Nothing beats a moist sponge cake containing grated carrot and typically topped with a buttercream or cream cheese icing. Yes, it does seem like an odd combination, a vegetable in a cake, but if you haven’t tried carrot cake you are definitely in for a very pleasant surprise. In fact, even if you don’t like carrot you should give it a try because the standard carrot taste doesn’t really exist in this cake.

Carrot cake is very dense, very moist and the best ones have a soft, sweet cream cheese frosting that adds a super yummy taste and lovely texture. Walnuts, cinnamon and nutmeg must be a carrot match made in heaven because the sum of the parts is very different to each individual piece.

Here are some establishments where you can find the best carrot cakes in Barcelona:

They shop locally for their ingredients and strive to deliver the best service possible. Spice Café want to share their dishes with the local community and bring exciting flavors and new spices to their menu. They offer several exciting cakes to choose from on the menu but the Carrot Cake truly is to die for.

In addition to serving tasty sandwiches, fresh juices and one of the best carrot cakes in Barcelona, Café Cometa also doubles as an art space – from the impressionist paintings on the walls down to the specially sourced furniture.

Expect: Café Cometa has a hipsterish vibe, coming from the quirky interior, menu, staff, as well as their customers. The place attracts a lot of young professionals and young families. They serve delicious natural juices, salads and sandwiches, many varieties of tea, their homemade carrot cake and other dishes such as hummus, quesadillas and guacamole are exceptionally good.
