Renting Bikes in Barceloneta

Barcelona is a city with a lot of traffic and taking the metro all the time can be expensive, so in this city, bikes are the saviors.

If your are headed to your apartment in Barceloneta, or if you are going to the beach, have dinner, or stroll on the Paseo Maritimo, you might want to consider renting bikes.

 

You can either rent a public bike that you can easily park and forget about, rent one from a university campus, or do the same from a private rental company.

Bicing

Most likely you have seen these distinctive and colorful red bikes parked at stations all over the city and wondered how the system worked.

Well, Bicing is a service of the Ayuntamiento de Barcelona which residents can sign up for only 50 or 35 euros a year, depending on your way of using the service. When you are registered you can pick up a bike with your pass from any of the stops all over the city.

But there are cons: You must return your chosen bike back to (any stop) within a 30-minute time frame, and you must pay for excess time and even a fine if you use the bike for more than two hours.

Bicicampus

If you are studying or working at the University of Barcelona (UB), the Rovira University or the Ramon LLull University (URL), you have the option of signing up to Bicicampus.

This system from Bicicleta Club de Catalunya (BACC) facilitates the rental of bikes to university personnel and students.

Other Options

You can also rent bikes in Barceloneta from private companies like BornBike,which offers bike rentals for only 6 euros, along with a map and itineraries to explore Barcelona.

You could also choose Barcelona Rent A Bike, which has a variety of bikes to choose from which you can use for two hours for six euros or for the whole week for 55 euros.

The cheapest option is Mattias 46, which rents bikes for the whole day for only 5 euros.
