Although most of the beaches of the Costa Brava are absolutely excellent, it is true that some are even more special, either for their beauty, their wild character or for their services. And ShBarcelona has a few recommendations you might want to consider. The first one is Cala Pola in Tossa de Mar. Although it is not very busy here, it is quite well known for its campsite, Camping Pola. This beach is difficult to park close to, so you have to really make an effort to access the beach area. It is one of the most beautiful coves of the Costa Brava though, and with about 80 meters in length it lies hidden in a small rocky bay. It is certainly one of the most beautiful locations in the whole area. Another option is the beach of Begur. Sa Riera, which is next to the beautiful Aiguablava, may be one of the best known coves/beaches of the Costa Brava. With its easy access, family atmosphere and only a few minutes from the extraordinary town of Begur, Aiguablava and its national parador are the perfect location for any picture postcard of the Costa Brava. There is, however, a positive and negative side to Begur; positive being its clear waters and spectacular landscape and negative its mass tourism during the summer season. The other beaches in the area of Begur (Sa Tuna, Aiguafreda, Playa Fonda…) are also astonishingly beautiful.

Another beach recommendation is Cala Sant Francesc in Blanes. The charming fishing village of Blanes has become a popular holiday destination in recent decades. You will find spacious beaches in Blanes, with everything you need close by and rocky coves that are acknowledged for their natural beauty. Cala Sant Francesc is formed by golden, sandy beaches and calm waters, and it is surrounded by pine trees. This small cove is 220 meters long and 35 meters wide, and you will also enjoy some general services here, like showers, sun beds, pedal boat rentals, first aid services, a parking area and restaurant. It is an ideal place for you and your family. And last but not least, we share with you Cala Jugadora in Cap de Creus. You will find spectacular coves, such as La Jugadora or Culip, on the old road from Cadaqués, one of the most beautiful villages in Catalonia, to the lighthouse of Cap de Creus. It belongs to the Natural Park of Cap de Creus, and characteristically the area can at times be tormented by very strong winds. This is the place where you can witness nature’s phenomenon of eroding rocks, and where the amazing beaches of the upper part of the Costa Brava will never cease to amaze you.
