Whether you like luxury, high street brands, alternative shops or vintage products, Barcelona is one of the best cities in the world for those seeking the right outfit, gift or whatever the object is you are after. The main shopping streets for well-known fashion brands are Passeig de Gràcia, Rambla de Catalunya, Carrer de Pelai, Diagonal and Portal de l’Àngel. Also Las Ramblas, the touristic main street of the city, has a wide offer of different kinds of shops. All these main streets gather huge crowds of shoppers at any time of the year.
If you want the same brands but fewer crowds and tourists, go to Rambla Catalunya, or go left on Diagonal from Passeig de Gràcia. You will find high street and luxury stores, shopping centers and two El Corte Inglés department stores as you walk on Diagonal towards Pedralbes (Maria Cristina subway station). If you are willing to make more of an effort to shop, a bus takes you to La Roca Village where you will find an outlet shopping center with a huge variety of chain shops. If you prefer more bohemian or alternative shopping experiences, El Born, the Gothic quarter, El Raval and Gràcia are the best choices. These all have small and independent shops, and despite the touristic stuff, you can visit some very charming and authentic stores. To see the most interesting ones, go around Carrer del Rec in Born, Carrer de Verdi in Gràcia, upper Raval and Carrer d’Avinyó in the Gothic quarter.

If it is designer or high-end products you are after, Eixample is definitely the place to go. The long Passeig de Gràcia is largely luxury, so you can find most of the major upscale brands on this beautiful avenue – including the likes of Chanel and Gucci. Also l’Illa, the modern and pleasant shopping center on Diagonal, offers a more high-end shopping experience.
If you are not prepared to spend loads of money to get something new, or if you prefer a more sustainable choice, there are some vintage markets that are worth visiting. Palo Alto market gathers lots of hipster shoppers interested in good vintage, food and chilling out with friends. Barcelona Vintage Market is another good choice, and do not forget the charity chain HUMANA, where you can make some great deals.
