Dress Code For Barcelona This Fall

There are certain benefits to be gained from choosing to dress more like a local in this city. The first of course is that others won’t immediately single you out as being a tourist. Also it gives you the perfect opportunity to do a little shopping and ensure that you have the right clothes for the weather.

Barcelona and in fact Spain in general is a very forward thinking nation and this certainly shows in the kinds of clothes that people choose to wear. However one thing you will notice is that unlike some other parts of Spain when it comes to the people of Barcelona and the region of Catalan overall the people here tend to dress more conservatively. But there are some exceptions to the rule and certainly clothes from brands such as Desigual and Custo Barcelona are very popular here as they throughout the rest of Spain.

When it comes to deciding what to wear this fall it of course depends on the weather. Generally throughout the autumn months (September, October and November) you’ll find that it is still sunny during the day, with the temperatures being a bit cooler than in the summer. However you’ll find that when it comes to the evenings the temperatures do fall quite a bit and so you need to make sure that you pack items that will help to keep the chill out when exploring the city at night.

Okay on Spain’s Costa del Sol it seems quite common to see women wandering around the shopping malls shorts, mini skirts and skimpy tops. However here in Barcelona you’ll find that such a look is definitely not commonplace. Yes the women here like to wear such but they never team such items together. If they choose to wear a top with a low neckline they then team this with a knee length skirt instead. Plus you’ll find that most tend to avoid wearing anything too revealing.

Packing for a trip to Barcelona this fall shouldn’t prove difficult. Just make sure that you pack clothes that you know are going to be easy to look after. If you can I would suggest you pack lots of light weight items that can be mixed and matched and which can be used as layers for when you find that the evenings are a little cooler. Personally I would pack several good quality cotton t-shirts along with a couple of nice tops for wearing in the evenings. You can of course wear jeans if you wish but it might also be a good idea to include in your suitcase a couple of smart knee length skirts and a pair of good trousers.
