We’re going on a picnic in Barcelona!

There are still some good weeks of warm weather… so let’s go outside! If you already find going to the beach a little boring after all the summer, why not go for a picnic outdoors enjoying some of the green spaces Barcelona has to offer? This is a new way to experience the city and its corners and eating something healthy and homemade together with your friends or your family. From ShBarcelona we recommend you some places where you can have a picnic and we encourage you, as always, to discover your own places in Barcelona.

El Mirador del Migdia in Montjuïc: in this place, located just behind the Castle of Montjuïc, there are some tables and benches set in the ground for anyone who wants to sit down to eat their own food. You would feel that you are in the countryside, even within a few meters of the city, you can amaze yourself with spectacular views of Barcelona. Oh, and next to this place, there is a bar where to have a beer after the picnic.

The Parc de la Ciutadella: this iconic park in Barcelona, located just below the Arch of Triumph, constitutes one of the largest green spaces in the city. Every weekend is very common to see groups of friends or families enjoying a picnic sitting on the grass of the park, and sharing the place with people who play musical instruments or that do yoga. All in a very friendly atmosphere, although you always have to watch out for thieves and not neglect your belongings.

The Parc de la Trinitat: this park is one of the most far away from the city picnic areas we will mention here, as it is in the town of Santa Coloma de Gramanet, but it’s worth going for its large green space, for its water channel and for being the only one offering barbecue area where you can light a fire. Here also stands the sculpture called “The runaway horses” by Josep Ros (1993), showing 15 horses “running” wild in the park.

The Horta Labyrinth: if you don’t know this so emblematic labyrinth in Barcelona, going there to have a picnic is a great opportunity to walk within the ivy walls before you get to eat. Although you already know the Horta Labyrinth, you may not know that it also has a picnic area with tables and wooden benches to spend a day with family or friends. A curious fact that you must know is that the film “The Perfume” by Tom Tykwer was shot in the Labyrinth’s Castle.
