Kylie Minogue chose Barcelona, and specifically the Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc as the stage for her hit single Slow. The video starts with a swimmer jumping from a diving board into the pool and with a nice shot of the city skyline from the Montjuïc hill. The rest of the video consists of her and her dancers moving slowly while lying on their towels.
Shakira is the first name that comes to mind when talking about videoclips shot in Barcelona. She’s in love with the city and on her Loca single, she shared that love with the rest of the world. In the video, we can see her rollerblading, dancing at the beach in Barceloneta, and inviting people to join her in a fountain in Pla de Palau. However, she pushed it a bit too far while shooting and was afterward fined by the police for not wearing a helmet while riding a motorbike in the clip.

Most people don’t know this but the highly famous My Immortal music video was shot in Barcelona, in the magic Sant Felip Neri square and other areas of Born and Ciutat Vella. The video is an evocative black and white collection of images that match this nice ballad.
The British band Keane filmed this video in a haunted mansion in the upper part of the city. The video was directed by Juan Antonio Bayona and had two Spanish actors playing lovers who can’t be together and wander around the creepy house.
The streets of the Gotic area are also the setting for this video, in which different characters swap with the singers while the camera follows them. Delafé y las Flores Azules is a band from Barcelona that sings in Spanish and mixes indie pop and hip hop.
Manel is a popular Catalan band that mixes pop and folk music. They sing in Catalan and they often shoot their videos in Barcelona. In one of their recent songs, En la que el Bernat se’t troba, they sing directly to the camera while walking through the streets of Eixample. But they have other interesting examples of videos shot in the city, like the one for the song La gent normal (a cover of Pulp’s Common People) in which they travel on top of a car through Las Rambla and other touristic spots.
Part of the soundtrack of Woody Allen’s Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona, this song plays all throughout the film but also has its own video clip shot in the city. Although the images portray a rural setting where the fiancés of the video and their families live, a panoramic view of Barcelona from a hill can be seen very clearly in the scene of the wedding. In the last part of the video, the bride runs desperately through an empty Barcelona street followed by her guests.
In this video from the Barcelona indie pop-rock band Love of Lesbian we can see two lovers wandering through ordinary random streets, shops, metro stops…We can also see a nice panoramic view of Barcelona’s Port from Montjuïc in the scene in which the two lovers yell. The internationally famous French band Phoenix chose the Catalan producing company Canada to create their video and came to Barcelona to shoot it. Although mainly filmed indoors with multiple props and funny effects, the camera pops out for a while (around minute 2:34) giving viewers a glimpse of a typical Eixample street.
The last video on our list is a total kitsch homage. In it, Maruja Garrido, a flamenco and rumba Catalan singer from the 70’s, gets off from a helicopter to find Dalí himself sitting on a luxurious armchair just in front of Arc de Triomf. From this moment on, the video combines shots of Maruja dancing in her flamenco dress with close ups of Dalí and his mustache. The video clip was filmed in 1971 for a program on Spanish TV and had international repercussion. Despite that, you can only find very old versions of the video online, in black and white. There is a small, 50-second version of the music video in color and with a bit more quality, which is the one we are sharing with you below.
