The Museo del Jamon, live the “Ham Experience” in Barcelona

Since early this year Barcelona hosts the first museum in the world dedicated exclusively to ham, the Ham Museum, located in the Rambla, particularly in the former Fàbrica del Llibre. This museum has an area of 2,000 m2 and is designed as an interactive place, with 3D and audiovisual screenings, sensory experiences of all types and this product tastings, the most important “dish” in our country. ShBarcelona encourages you to live what has been called the “Ham Experience” and try this typical Spanish ham which every year attracts thousands of tourists to Barcelona  (among many other attractions, of course).

The Museum of Ham welcomes us with a giant ham of 4 meters, has been designed as an interpretation center of the ham and created by the entrepreneur Enrique Tomás, owner of more than 50 stores devoted exclusively to the ham. The architectural project is by Dani Freixes and in this space, visitors will walk through various spaces that allow you to differentiate Iberian ham from “bellota” Iberian ham with several denominations of origin, among other things, thanks to a 25 minutes “trip” around the ham world with audio guides in 8 different languages.

🎫 Do you want to visit more monuments of Barcelona? Such as the Sagrada Familia and Park Güell. We recommend you to buy a Barcelona City Pass card. Have an unforgettable experience with quick access to the most visited places. You don’t need to print your ticket. Besides, you can discover the entire city of Barcelona with the Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour.

After the tour, on the first floor of the museum, professional ham cutters will demonstrate how you should properly cut this product directly from the pig’s foot, and several varieties will be tasted. This, as you will suppose, is the most anticipated part of the whole tour! All while visitors enjoy excellent views of a viewpoint in this part of the museum’s lower floor. On the Museum’s three floors visitors will tour between 3D screenings, models and life-size reproductions related to the ham’s world. The first floor hosts the store and a bar, open to the public from Monday to Sunday. The museum ticket is 19 euros, a money that is worth to spend…

Travel around the ham’s world and try this delicious food!
