Christine; we are considering a VRBO apartment in Carrer del Pintor Fortuny street, close to Las Ramblas. In your experience, is it a good location to use as a base to explore Barcelona?

You will be in walking distance of many interesting places, and public transport will get you you to further away monuments or parks.
Just remember that being close to Las Ramblas - even in September - can mean it can get quite busy.
