Where to rent bikes in Sants-Montjuic

Barcelona is a great city for those who love to ride bicycles. The majority of the terrain in the city is flat, other than a slight slope leading down to the coast, and there are plenty of cycling lanes to keep you at a safe distance from road traffic.

If you are coming to the city for a visit and feel like ridding a bike or even if you are living here but can’t afford to purchase one, give yourself the occasional treat of renting.

Donkey Republic – Rent A Bike

Donkey Republic stands at the edge of Sants-Montjuïc, in Poble Sec, on Carrer Nou de la Rambla. They offer short time bicycle rental but you don’t have to register, which makes it very tourist friendly. You can simply book and pay for the bike online, and then you are ready to collect it and ride away. They use an innovative bluetooth locking mechanism, which means you can lock and unlock the bike with your phone, and they also have various stations positioned around the city. The station in Sants-Montjuïc is located at Plaça Espanya.

Mattia 46

Mattia 46 is located on Gran Via de Les Corts Catalanes, close to Plaça Espanya. It is a rental shop with a variety of bikes on offer, available for varying amounts of time. There is a very helpful team on hand that can not only advise you on the bikes themselves, but also on great routes around the city.

OK Barcelona Tours

OK Barcelona Tours is located on Carrer de Béjar, close to Av. Parallel. They offer guided bicycle tours around the city, taking you around various popular attractions, making many stop-offs along the route. The majority of the tours are along bicycle lanes, ensuring tourist’s safety and comfort. Each tour lasts for around 3.5 hours.

Bicing

If you are planning on living in Barcelona and you absolutely love bicycles, why don’t you invest on a Bicing membership? Bicing is a scheme which was started by the city council in 2007, to promote the use of bicycles for public transport. It is only available for permanent residents, which means you need a NIE or the equivalent to register for a yearly account, which costs around 50€. There are various stations positioned around Sants-Montjuïc, as well as the rest of the city. Each bike you pick up can be used for 30 minutes straight, after which you pay 74 cents per half hour until you reach 2 hours. If you use the bike for over two hours, you will be charged 4,49€ per hour.
