If there is one thing Barcelona is famous for is its gorgeous architecture. There are a number of incredible buildings that beg to be sketched or photographed, some of which have even been declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
Palau Baró de Quadras is a petite modernist palace with Neo-Gothic and Arabesque Neo-Mudéjar inspirations, built in the beginning of the 1900s, commissioned by Baron de Quadras to prominent architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch. The Baron wanted an old building to be renovated and to be transformed into something completely different and unique.

The new building followed the norm of the new Eixample buildings of the time, presenting one ornate and impressive facade facing the street, where it could be admired by all passersby, and a simple, unassuming facade on the back of the building, facing the inner courtyard.
Josep Puig i Cadafalch hired some of the best artisans to help bring his idea to life, including Eusebi Arnau and Alfons Juyol, who are responsible for the stunning revival balcony that can be seen from the outside. Another important name associated to the Palau is that of Manuel Ballarín i Lancuerta, who was one of the best ironworkers of the time.
Today, Palau Baró de Quadras houses the main offices of Institue Ramon Llull, after having been declared a National Historical Monument of Artistic Interest.

Palau Baró de Quadras can be visited every day from Wednesday to Saturday, but tours should be booked beforehand since places are limited. There are English tours at 11 am, Catalan tours at 12 pm, and Spanish tours at 1 pm. Each tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.

The regular admission price is of 14€ per person, for adults. Senior citizens, students, unemployed people and visitors with disabilities get a 10% discount, paying 12,60€ per ticket. Children between 7 and 12 years old get a 50% discount, which means they only pay 7€ per ticket. Entry is free for kids under 6 years old.
Palau Baró de Quadras is located at Avinguda Diagonal, 373, near Casa Milà.
Visitors can easily access the Palau by using public transportation. Both the blue and the green line of the metro stop at Diagonal, only a couple of steps away from the Palau, and buses 6, 3, 34, 39, H8, and V17 will also drop visitors close by.
