Dance the night away at Opium

As far as nightlife goes, Barcelona is a city that can’t be beat. Barcelona boasts a plethora of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs in which you can dance the night away and have a fantastic night out. One club that can’t be missed is Opium, which has been entertaining party-goers for years and has evolved into one of the top nightclubs in the city.

A little about Opium

Opium is located right on the beach, giving it a relaxed vibe during the day and the best place to be at night. You can find Opium at the beginning of the Passeig Marítim, easily accessible by Metro (Line 4 Ciutadella/Vila Olímpica). Here you can take a walk and enjoy the lovely views of the sea during the day as well as relax and have a drink at one of the many bars that line the beachfront. However at night when many of the beach bars are winding down a bit and you’re looking for a place to dance, you can head to Opium where the night is just getting started. Make sure that you strap on your dancing shoes and that you’re ready to party because in Barcelona the night doesn’t end until the next morning!

Daytime

With the beautiful summer weather right now in Barcelona it’s the perfect time to enjoy a meal at the beach without the worry of finding sand in your food. You can sit on the terrace that’s right on the beach an enjoy a first-class meal, whether you are sampling tasty Mediterranean dishes for lunch or trying some delicious tapas for dinner. The menu boasts fresh ingredients and seafood straight from the sea, as well as classic Spanish and Catalan dishes. The outdoor dining area and bar has an upscale feel to it that gives you a sense of what you can expect during the evening: a classy yet fun evening on the town. There is a beautiful beach bar in which you can order drinks and cocktails to sip on either with your meal or as an afternoon-pick-me-up. Even though Opium is known as the city’s best hotspot at night there’s no reason not to check it out during the daytime to experience something new.

The entrance to Opium is at street level but you must descend underground to the huge space below to discover everything that awaits you.  There is a huge open space for dancing, accompanied by great music. Some of the world’s biggest DJs take turn spinning tracks at Opium, like David Guetta, Avicii, and Armin Van Buuren. Throughout the summer on Wednesday nights there are guest DJs, so be sure to buy your tickets in advance to hear some of hottest beats that will make you move on the dance floor. One thing to note: even though Opium is on the beach make sure that you’re not wearing beachwear or you won’t be admitted into the club! Men mustn’t wear shorts and no flip flops, T-shirts, or anything too revealing is allowed. The dress code at Opium is to ensure that the atmosphere is classy but still sexy at the same time. With this in mind, you can sip on fantastic drinks and dance until th wee hours of the morning!
