My favorite restaurants in Barcelona

When it comes to food, there are so many great choices in Barcelona, sometimes it’s hard to decide where to eat. If you feel like discovering some new places, here are a couple suggestions, some of my favorite restaurants in Barcelona.

La Tasqueta de Blai

If you are as big of a fan of pintxos as I am, you will love La Tasqueta de Blai. This tiny restaurant in Poble Sec serves an enormous variety of the traditional basque food for the moderate price of 1€ each. Never had pintxos? This is how it works: approach the stand and choose from several small slices of bread with a variety of toppings, held together by a wooden pick. Go to your table, enjoy them and come back for more as many times as you want. When it’s time to leave, show the cashier how many picks you have and she will charge you an euro each.

Balmes/Rosselló

Located at the Balmes/Rosselló intersection, this braseria/pizzeria serves a variety of delicious dishes, including stone stove cooked pizza, mouth-watering hamburgers and steak and vegetables that are delivered to your table still sizzling on top of a thick slice of stone.

But what really fascinates me about this restaurant is its design. The black, factory-like ceilings create a wonderful contrast against the green of the many plants spread around the room and the gorgeous nature pictures that cover entire walls.

Balmes/Rosselló is located at Carrer Balmes 129.

Safrà 18

It may be hard to believe, but Safrà 18 used to be a cow barn. With walls made of stone, beautiful wooden furniture and inviting lighting, Safrà 18 is a cozy, romantic restaurant, perfect for a meal with your partner.

The restaurant serves exquisite dishes of meat, fish and pasta, that will have you begging for more.

Flax & Kale

This flexetarian restaurant works with natural ingredients to create healthy and tasty meals like zucchini blossom salad, tempeh bagel and beet tuna tartar. They also have an amazing beverages menu that is definitely worth browsing through. You will find drinks like The Vegan Vampire, My Sweet Horny, The Frozen Pink Panther and The Rejuvenator.

The food is tasty, the staff is helpful and the restaurant’s enormous windows create a delightfully bright environment inside.
