Great places to grab a craft beer In Barcelona

While Spain may forever be linked with wine and sangria, this hasn’t stopped a cosmopolitan city such as Barcelona from joining the craft beer revolution. After all, as of 2015 one in every ten beers produced is now indeed a craft beer. Here’s a selection of the best places in the city to enjoy their hoppy delights.

Ale&Hop

With a name like this you can hardly go wrong can you? Located in Sant Pere, Santa Caterina this joint was awarded ‘Best Restaurant For Beer in Spain’ in 2014 and stocks the finest amber and Indian pale ales. They serve at least ten different beers on a weekly basis and also have a brunch menu to die for. Throw in knowledgeable staff and you’re definitely in for a good time.

BeirCab

Boasting arresting interiors, their own shop, and with potatas bravas readily available, BeirCab is one on the most famed beer purveyors in Spain. The sheer number of bottles on show with leave you in shock, not to mention the thirty taps offering a mind boggling array of tastes and flavors. Well worth a visit to Carrer de Muntaner, 55.

La Resisténcia

With a sign no one can miss, many a lucky tourist and visitor has stumbled into La Resisténcia to be delighted by what owners Sergi and David have on offer. With David also owning the Rosses i Torrades beer boutique this Viladomat situated treat boats a mixture of local brews and outside specialties, all for a very reasonable price. Great pallet tables plus a happy and faithful clientele just add to the charm.

Belchica

If you’re looking for a change from the usual craft beer atmosphere Belchica is here to help. With a large TV for sports, occasional DJ’s and mixed crowd, this bar just off Urgell offers a more usual drinking experience. The beer however is anything but usual. Barcelona’s first (and only) Belgian bar offers the best Trappist beer you’re going to find for a long way as well as more famed tipples such as Leffe and Hoegaarden on tap.

El Vaso de Oro

A truly authentic slice of Spain. Quick friendly service, open access to the street and often filled to the brim. Famed more for its tapas, El Vaso de Oro also offers a first class Oatmeal Porter, great pale ales and other delights. Only a short walk from the beach, the bar is also perfectly situated if you’re keen to walk off what you’ve just enjoyed.
