Where to go for fun in Gràcia

Away from the throngs of tourists and bursting with charm and character, Gràcia is one of Barcelona’s coolest neighborhoods. There is plenty to, do day and night, whether you’re looking for high-brow culture or a bar-based good time.

Here is where you should head to in Gracia if you want to have some fun.

Centre Artesà Tradicionàrius

CAT was created in 1993 by musicians and people interested in promoting traditional Catalan music and culture. The venue regularly organizes concerts, dances, and improvisation sessions, as well as workshops and traditional music performances. A great place to go and immerse yourself in Catalan tradition.

Teatre Lliure

A fantastic neighborhood theater, Teatre Lliure offers plays and dance performances, including some in English. It also has a fantastic program of children’s theater, making it fun for all the family.

Alfa Bar

Alfa Bar is great. They have something on every night of the week. You can listen to a great band play or perhaps take to the mic yourself during one of their weekly open mic nights. Later on and at weekends, they have DJs playing an assortment of fun music. Alfa is the kind of bar where you can spend a good couple of hours, having a great time with friends. Start the night sipping one of their specialty gin and tonics and end it dancing away to great pop and rock music.

Elèctric Bar

An innovative neighborhood venue with a relaxed vibe, Elèctric Bar is guaranteed to inject a bit of fun into any evening. In the room at the back, they regularly host concerts by local bands, jam sessions, and rumba, folk and electronica acts. A bit bohemian, with great music, perfect for whiling away an evening with friends.

Switch Bar

Switch may be tiny but this self-styled ‘pocket club’ attracts the best of the city’s DJs. Expect to hear house and minimal techno played to a low key music-loving crowd. Get up close and personal in this miniature music mecca.

If all else fails, head to one of Gràcia’s unbeatable squares. In the warm summer evenings, Gracià’s plaças fill up with young people, listening to music, sipping on beers, enjoying the balmy evening and generally enjoying the best of life.

Hard to beat!
