Barcelona is a beautiful city with endless options for a romantic encounter. If you are about to plan your next date but you are on a budget, there are many ways to have an exciting and enjoyable time without breaking the bank.

Picnic in Parc de la Ciutadella

Park de la Ciutadella is one of the best spots in the city to spend a fun and romantic afternoon with a date. Green, lush and bursting with life, the park is the ideal place to spend a few hours without spending a lot of money. Bring a blanket, a picnic basket, and enjoy a relaxed lunch while soaking up the sun. For about 5€ you can rent a rowboat and take a 30-minute cruise around the park’s man-made lake. To cap it off, take a stroll around the park and maybe even sneak in a kiss at the romantic fountain of Venus.

Parc Güell at sunset

The sunset over Parc Güell is one of the most romantic and breathtaking views you will find in Barcelona.  The ticket to the park is 7€ per person, a small price to pay to see one of Gaudí’s masterpieces. Walk hand in hand with your date exploring the mosaic-lined walls, enchanting buildings, and lush flora the park has to offer. In the end of the day, find your favorite spot and enjoy the sunset from the mirador overlooking the city.

Museum on a Sunday

Barcelona is chock-full of museums, including art, history, and science. The best time for a visit is on Sunday when almost all museums offer free admission from 3 to 7 p.m. Take your date for an afternoon of culture and art at the MACBA, learn about the great world civilizations at the Museu de Cultures de Món, or study famous works at the Picasso Museum. The possibilities are endless!  For more information and a list of museums with free entry, click here.

An evening at Port Vell

At the end of La Rambla, you will find Port Vell, another great spot to enjoy the beauty of Barcelona. Take a ride on the Golondrinas, the boats that cruise around the harbor, for a unique view of the city. The trip lasts 45 minutes and will cost you about 7€ per person. Depending on the time of the year, if you take the last boat, you will arrive just in time for the sunset, which will give you and your date the chance to see the lights dancing off the water as the city grows dark.
