Barcelona’s Best Falafel

Ah, the good old falafel. In a world of over-priced burger chains, the honest, unassuming falafel is the king of fast food: cheap, healthy, satisfying and down right delicious. Barcelona has some fantastic falafel places nestled in amongst the tapas bars, a result of the city’s rich tapestry of cultures. Here are the best places for falafel in Barcelona.

El Cocinero de Damasco, Raval

One of the many places to get Middle Eastern food in Raval, El Cocinero de Damasco is a traditional Syrian kebab place. There are lots of meaty options to choose from here, however, their homemade hummus and traditional falafel are absolutely wonderful. Cheap, fast, simple and delicious.

Mustá Shawarma, Gracia

Another traditional Middle Eastern eatery, Mustá Shawarma offers welcoming service with a smile. Food is homemade and cooked to order – even their pitta is made in-house. Absolutely cracking falafel alongside a delicious array of other dishes.

A Tu Bola, Raval

A Tu Bola is a modern eatery in Raval, born out of the street food boom in Barcelona. They only serve balls: lamb, chicken, even chocolate but we love their chickpea balls served with a cauliflower salad. The perfect modern take on the classic falafel.

Maoz Falafel, Gotic

Yes, it might be an international chain but who doesn’t love a serve-yourself salad bar to dress their huge cooked-to-order falafel sandwich. Head to Maoz in the Gotic, load up your pitta with a delicious array of toppings, get it to go and eat al fresco in neighbouring Plaza Real. The perfect fast food lunch.

In a city that loves food, the humble falafel can be overlooked amongst the many amazing tapas bars but we think the Middle Eastern food in Barcelona is some of the best in the world. The perfect quick lunch, late night snack or starring dish in bountiful mezze – falafel rules.
