Autumn/Winter trends in Barcelona: Ponchos

Autumn/Winter fashion is usually market by darker tones like browns, navy blue, black, burgundy and mustard, and thicker fabrics like fleece, wool and twill weaves.

One particular item hitting the runways and most of the stores is the poncho. This outer garment is commonly used by Native Americans from the Andes since pre-Hispanic times, having later expanded to South America.

The original poncho is essentially one large sheet of fabric with an open space for the head. Today you can find variations of the poncho with hoods, open in the front, like a jacket, etc. You can find ponchos made from a variety of materials like wool, yarn, knitted or crocheted.
