The presence of the Greek demigod in Barcelona is\u00a0showed\u00a0by photographs of\u00a0several Internet bloggers<\/strong><\/a>, Hermes enthusiasts and fans, with the intent to “rescue from oblivion more hidden and unknown Barcelona”. Snapshots that these “hunters” rescue of the corners of the city are now, and until September the 13th, exhibit at the\u00a0Setba Foundation<\/strong><\/a>, located in the Plaza Real number 10 on the 1st floor. Some photographers are: Enrique Camos, Angeles Duran, Jordi Casadevall, Roser Messa, Andres Paredes, Neus Prats, Xavi Soro, Vendrell Alba, Nuria Stained Oviedo Marian and Albert E. Mu\u00f1oz.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0importance of Hermes<\/strong>\u00a0in our city comes from the myths that tell that this figure, along with Heracles, founded Barcelona, and protected its trade, its artistic development, its science and its travelers, so it emerged as an\u00a0economic reference.<\/p>\n

A little history…<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Cazadores-de-Hermes-Edifici-Sfera-de-Pl-Catalunya\"<\/a>The intense population, economic and commercial activity\u00a0growth in many Spanish cities during the nineteenth century imposed the need for a new urban model, after the demolition of the medieval walls. In Barcelona they\u00a0developed\u00a0the Eixample (l’Eixample) designed by\u00a0Ildefons Cerd\u00e0<\/strong>, which led to the creation of a\u00a0new city\u00a0with the\u00a0Old City inside (now the Borne and the Gothic Quarter). Multiple\u00a0god Hermes representations and his attributes<\/strong>\u00a0are spread out in buildings of this renewed Barcelona. Even today we can see prove of this in facades\u00a0of\u00a0private homes, public offices and government buildingd, monuments and many other buildings devoted to commerce, education and culture.<\/p>\n

\"Cazadores-de-Hermes-Passatge-del-Cr\u00e8dit\"<\/a>We acknowledge God Hermes by his\u00a0wings and caduceus<\/strong>. The wings arise at both ends of the body and are small. The caduceus, a winged staff around which two serpents curl alternately attract and repel, is living proof of apparent submission to unit, an expression of rectitude, and involves continuous adjustments and critical moments with contractions and expansions.<\/p>\n
