Once the Roman city of <em>Egara<\/em>, most of the oldest historic buildings that exist in <strong>Terrassa<\/strong> today date back to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/medieval-villages-catalonia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Medieval<\/strong><\/a> times. During the industrial revolution in the 19th century, <strong>Terrassa<\/strong>, like many other Catalan cities, played an important role in the textile industry.\u00a0 In fact, the city was a major leader in both Catalonia and Spain in the industrial revolution. This unique architectural gem, designed by architect Llu\u00eds Muncunill i Parellada, was constructed in 1896. Nature lovers can go <strong>climbing, cycling,\u00a0<\/strong><strong>hiking, <\/strong>or<strong> caving<\/strong> in the nearby\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/parcs.diba.cat\/web\/SantLlorenc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Natural Park of Sant Lloren\u00e7 del Munt<\/a>. History lovers can visit the\u00a0<strong>Castell Cartoixa de Vallparad\u00eds<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>a castle dating back to the 12th century that&#8217;s home to a museum today.
